EHDWBA  COMPETITION RULES 2024 

Singles : 21 Shots   4 Wood Pairs : 18 Ends  Triples: 3 Woods 18 Ends

Fours: 18 Ends 2 Wood Pairs: 21 Ends     Millennium Cup: 21 Shots

3 Wood Singles is played in Gala format until the Final when it is 21 shots.

RULES 2024

  1. All competitions will be played under World Bowls Laws unless stated otherwise.

  1. The player whose name / number is printed first is the challenger. She will offer her opponent three none-consecutive dates, one of which must be a different day of the week and one of which may be a weekend. The opponent must accept one of these dates or forfeit the game. The dates must be offered within two weeks of the closing date of the previous round or the opponent will become the challenger. County competition dates and EH Association games dates can be refused if the opponent is involved and another date offered. SEMI FINALS must be played on a neutral green within a suitable distance, in this case for a Singles game ask the Host club to provide a marker. You cannot use your own green. (Unless both players are from that club and mutually agree.)

A player who has changed clubs may not use their old club’s green as a neutral green for a period of one year.

Please offer a choice of two rinks for all matches.

No player may be forced to accept a playing start time before 6pm.

If neither player/ club makes the arrangements both are disqualified.

 

  1. A player named in any competition cannot become a substitute for another team in that competition.

 

  1. On finals day if a player has to be substituted, that player may not return to play in subsequent matches.

 

  1. In Pairs, Triples and Fours the players taking part in the first game shall constitute ‘The Team’ and shall normally play together throughout the competition. One additional and the same player may however be used as a substitute at any time, provided she has not played in the competition.  SHE MUST NOT PLAY SKIP.  The competition secretary should be informed if a substitute will be playing before the match commences. In the case of a walkover all players in both teams must be named and the competition secretary informed.

  1. In the event of a match being abandoned for any reason on the last day of the round the teams will be allowed three days to continue the game. There should be trial ends played before the restart.

Severe inclement weather / health crisis will be considered individually.

  1. Competition results must be telephoned / emailed / texted to the competition secretary on the day of play.

 

  1. DRESS CODE.  Competitors shall wear greys or registered club colours with either white or club colour tops or in all rounds up to semi-final stage.  Shorts may be worn providing clubs allow them.

 

  1. Finals Day is to be held at the President’s Green. 

Dress : Whites and club colours or registered club colours.

 

  1.  Anniversary Cup :    Please offer 3 dates as per rule 2.

Once a player reaches TEN County points they may no longer participate.

 In the event of a draw the winner shall be decided on shots. 

If an extra end is still needed it should be played by the rink that drew.
